Police Blotter for Sept. 2, 2015

Champaign

  • An explosive device was reported at the U.S. Army Recruiting Building, 1807 W. Bradley Ave., around 8:30 a.m. on Monday. According to the report, a suspicious package was observed in the rear of the building. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called out and deemed the package safe. 
  • Criminal damage to property was reported in the 2600 Block of West Kirby Avenue around 2 p.m. on Monday. According to the report, the victim’s car was egged by offender, causing considerable damage. 

University 

  • A University student reported her bike was stolen sometime between Friday and Monday from the Busey-Evans residence halls, 1115 W. Nevada St. According to the report, the bike was locked to the rack and has a value of $100.
  • A 44-year-old male was arrested in the 500 Block of East White Street for two outstanding warrants. 
  • According to the report, the offender had a Douglas County warrant for contempt of court and a city of Champaign warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Urbana

  • A body was discovered in the 1800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Monday. According to the report, the victim was not breathing when found and was unresponsive. Victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
  • Criminal damage to property was reported in the 800 block of East Mumford Drive around 11 a.m. Monday. According to the report, an unknown offender threw eggs at the victim’s house at some point overnight, causing damage to three windows.
