Police investigate shooting, one man injured

Champaign Police Department are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday, March 22. Shots were fired, injuring one man, in the 2100 block of West White St.Tuesday around 10:30 p.m.

While driving to the scene, officers received information that a gunshot victim had been found in the 200 block of Country Fair Drive, according to a press release from the Champaign Police Department. The 25-year-old male victim was taken to the hospital to treat a non-life threatening gunshot wound in his leg.

The victim told police that an unknown attacker allegedly shot at him while he was walking toward his home in Gramercy Park Apartments.

People questioned in the investigation said they heard a singular gunshot, followed by the sound of several males yelling. Then, the noise of a couple cars driving away at high speeds.
