The State Farm Center will be adding new security restrictions for upcoming events, with regulations beginning at the Florida Georgia Line concert on Thursday.

Upon entry, security will now be using hand-held security wands on all guests. In addition, guests will be required to remove their hats and empty their pockets to be searched.

Additional screening may be requested by security officers and UIPD.

The new measures were a “coordinated effort” between the State Farm Center Security Staff and UIPD, according to the Tuesday press release.

The State Farm Center will be opening the doors to its events 90 minutes prior to its shows, in order to accommodate the new security measures.

The State Farm Center said these changes reflect a nationwide improvement by concert venues to improve guests’ safety and that policy changes are routinely examined and updated.
