Gunfire reported at Marketplace Mall Saturday night

Gunfire was reported at Marketplace Mall, 2000 N. Neil St., around 8:22 p.m. Saturday. So far, no injuries were reported, and no gunshots were fired inside the mall.

Upon arrival, police found evidence of gunfire in the parking lot on the west side of the mall near the food court. Officers searched multiple stores inside the mall and identified several parked vehicles were damaged.

No suspect information is currently available, and no arrests have been made at this time; however, officers, detectives and crime scene personnel are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene.

The Champaign Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police. Additionally, any surrounding businesses with exterior surveillance camera systems are asked to contact police.

Anyone with information can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by phone, online or through the mobile application.
