Gies Business alumnus donates $10 million

Don Edwards, an alumnus of Gies College of Business and chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, along with his wife Anne, announced they are gifting the university $10 million, the largest gift ever donated by a University of Illinois trustee. The Gies College of Business will receive $7 million to go toward initiatives and scholarships.

This gift will also give significant support with Gies and the Discovery Partners Institute, a world-class education and research center led by the University that is driven by purpose, collaboration research focused on growing the state’s workforce and prosperity. The Edwards are also donating $3 million to support Gies faculty at the DPI in Chicago and the Technology/Innovation Fund will also be receiving an additional $2 million.

“The Gies Business-DPI partnership is a powerful opportunity to drive innovation and growth throughout our state,” said Don Edwards. “I am excited that this gift will promote research and new ideas within the College and enhance Gies’ entrepreneurial mission. Anne and I are so pleased to play a part in helping this vision become a reality.”
The donation from the Edwards will help further innovations in Gies along with increasing access within the college.
