Champaign

Forgery was reported in the 2500 block of Galen Drive, around 1 p.m. Wednesday. According to the report, an unknown offender cashed a forged check in the victim’s business name.

An arrest was made on the charge of unlawful use of I.D. in the 600 block of East Daniel Street, around 10 a.m. Wednesday. According to the report, a twenty-year-old student attempted to use a friend’s I.D. indicating he was at a legal age to consume alcohol to enter a bar. The suspect was issued a city NTA for this offense.

Burglary from a motor vehicle was reported in the 2200 block of Glenoak Drive, around 8 a.m. Wednesday. According to the report, an unknown offender stole the victim’s wallet when it was left in the victim’s unlocked vehicle.

University

An arrest was made on the charges of trespassing on state-supported property, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, threatening a public official and aggravated assault in the 600 block of East Springfield Avenue, around 9 p.m. Thursday. According to the report, police were initially called by an Illini Union security guard who recognized the suspect who had previously been issued a no-trespassing notice for all University property. The suspect became aggressive, threatened to shoot the guard and attempted to flee when police arrived. After the suspect was apprehended and arrested, officers discovered a stolen purse in his possession.

Theft and credit card fraud was reported at State Farm Center, 1800 S. First St., on Friday. According to the report, an unknown offender stole the victim’s wallet and attempted to use the credit card inside for a transaction that was declined. The wallet was returned to the lost-and-found at the Activities and Recreation Center on Monday, but without the victim’s cash inside.

Urbana

Battery was reported in the intersection of Kerr and Geraldine Avenues, around 8 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, the victim was sprayed by mace, punched and kicked by two unknown offenders who have not yet been located.

An arrest was made on the charges of no rabies tag for a dog and cat in the 1900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, around 11 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, the suspect was issued an NTA after a welfare check on the residence’s animals found that they were not current on rabies vaccinations. 

Animal cruelty and no rabies tag for a cat was reported in the 400 block of East Green Street, around 8 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, the offender surrendered her cat, who had been living in her van since Thanksgiving. The cat was then transferred to the Champaign County Humane Society.
