Police investigate late night shooting

By Samantha Boyle, Managing Editor for Reporting

Champaign Police are investigating a shooting where one man was injured Tuesday night.

According to a Champaign Police Department press release, officers responded to the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue around 11:30 p.m. where they found a 25-year-old male with two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital and taken into surgery. However, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The investigation is ongoing and no one has been arrested, but the investigation currently suggests the shooting occurred outside and possibly after an argument.

Police are encouraging any nearby residents or businesses with exterior camera systems to contact the police department as the footage may help the investigation.
