Letter: Suspension in error

I am outraged that you suspended the editors who decided to publish the Danish cartoons. They are exercising our inherent right to free speech, thought, and expression. The cartoons may have been offensive, but that is no reason to stifle them. Today I was offended and angered by Eric Naing’s letter decrying the Bush administration. However, I respect his right to express himself and will not call for his suspension.

The Daily Illini’s decision to suspend these editors was a terrible error. You should be ashamed of yourselves. If these editors are not reinstated, I will exercise my right to not pick up your newspaper. In that event, please inform the companies that purchase ads in your paper that there is one less reader.
