Letter: Apology is meaningless
November 11, 2004
As an alumnus of the University of Illinois and a member of the President’s Club, I was ashamed by the Nov. 5 I Hate Pam cartoon and your response in your Nov. 8 editorial, “To our readers.”
Your apology for the blatant error in judgment in printing the cartoon is meaningless when you state that the artist did not intend the anti-Semitic nature of the cartoon. What was he intending? It’s ludicrous to think that this was anything but intentional.
If you cannot see this, these types of incidents will continue to occur. As a matter of fact, this seems to occur regularly.
