Champaign

An arrest was made on the charge of possession of a stolen firearm in the 1600 block of Kiler Drive around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, a witness called and reported seeing a subject armed with a gun, who was later located and arrested.

University

An arrest was made on the charges of aggravated unlawful use of weapons, possession of cannabis on school grounds with intent to deliver and on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court near White and Elm streets around 1 p.m. on Thursday. According to the report, the suspect was driving near an elementary school when he was stopped by Street Crimes Task Force officers who recognized his vehicle and were aware that he was driving with a suspended license. Police searched the vehicle after smelling a strong odor of cannabis and found a backpack containing a handgun and cannabis individually wrapped for delivery.
