Theft of a motor vehicle and theft over $500 was at University parking lot E-38 near the ARC around 8 p.m. on Friday. According to the report, a University student’s vehicle was stolen while he was playing basketball inside the building. The student’s jacket, car keys, cellphone and wallet were left in the vehicle and were also stolen. After the theft, the student’s debit card was used at an Urbana restaurant without permission. The stolen vehicle has an estimated value of $2,500, and the other items have an estimated total value of $1,020.

Arrests were made on the charges of retail theft and theft over $500 at Walmart, located on the 100 block of High Cross Street around 3:30 p.m. on Monday. According to the report, police responded to reports of a shoplifter and located a suspect who had allegedly stolen items from the store, and the suspect was taken to jail. Police then learned that a second suspect was involved and had stolen additional items. The second suspect was issued a notice to appear.
