Five different Illini scored as the Illinois hockey club earned its 23rd straight win, beating Kent State 5-2 Saturday night. It was also the top-ranked Illini’s 11th consecutive series sweep of the season.

The Golden Flashes stayed within striking distance early in the first period, scoring 10 minutes in to tie the game at 1-1. From there, however, the Illini dominated the game, scoring just 30 seconds later and tacking on three more goals. A scoreless third period saw the Illini extend its record winning streak.

Illinois will play host to rival Ohio in a crucial conference matchup next weekend at the Ice Arena. Games will be played on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
