Crutcher no longer part of Illini basketball

The Fighting Illini will be without one of their key contributors for the final stretch of the season. On Friday, head coach Jolette Law announced that starting senior forward Danyel Crutcher will no longer be a part of the Illinois basketball program. Crutcher was averaging 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in 19 games this season. The Orange, N.J., native finished her career ranked eighth on the program’s career rebounding list with 686 boards and 25th on the career scoring list with 885 points.

“It’s unfortunate that Danyel will not finish out her career as a Fighting Illini,” Law said in a press release. “We all care a great deal about Crutch and gave her every opportunity to come back, but she chose to stick with her decision. We wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors. With this situation now behind us, we’ve come together as a team and are focused on the rest of the regular season and making a run in the Big Ten Tournament.”
