The Fighting Illini fell to the Florida Gators 2-0 in Gainesville, Fla., Friday night. After a scoreless first half, the Gators struck quickly in the second half. The Gators’ Sarah Chapman scored early in the second half and her teammate, Tahnai Annis, found the back of the net on a deflection a few minutes later.

Florida outshot Illinois 12-9 during the game. Illini forward Chichi Nweke led the team’s offense with two shots on goal, while Jordan Hilbrands and Marissa Mykines each had one. Goalie Alexandra Kapicka had four saves against the Gators. The Illini will play at Central Florida on Sunday.
