Riley advances to NCAA 60m hurdles final

Illinois men’s track and field freshman Andrew Riley qualified for the final of the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday.

A time of 7.808 seconds was good for eighth, making Riley the last one to make it to the finals. Texas Tech’s Omo Osaghae won the event in 7.72 seconds. The finals for the 60-meter hurdles are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Senior Gakologelwang Masheto didn’t make it to the finals of the 400 meters. Entering as the No. 1 seed, Masheto placed 12th with a time of 47.37 seconds while winning his heat. LSU runner Robert Simmons won the event in 46.63 seconds. Georgia’s Justin Gaymon was the last to qualify for finals with a time of 47.10 seconds.
