The two Illinois runs came off a third-inning RBI single off the bat of junior right fielder Hope Howell and a sixth-inning homer by sophomore left fielder Hollie Pinchback.

Freshman pitcher Monica Perry surrendered six runs, four earned, in four innings of work. But junior Christine Christopoulos held the Blue Demons scoreless in the final three innings.

Illinois (17-8) wraps up its first homestand of the season Saturday and Sunday against Big Ten foe Michigan State.
