The No. 5 Illinois volleyball team defeated Big Ten rival Northwestern in four sets Wednesday night to bring its conference record to 16-3.
The team had to play without star setter junior Hillary Haen, but the Illini made quick work of the first two sets, 26-24, 25-21. Illinois stumbled in the third set with a 25-11 loss to the Wildcats but rebounded in the fourth set to seal the match with a 25-23 victory.
Junior Laura DeBruler led the team in kills with 16, including the match-winning kill.
