After a rough start, the No. 2 ranked Illinois men’s gymnastics team bested Minnesota in dual meet action Saturday night 350.650-342.150.
Despite struggling on their first three rotations, the Illini rebounded late, posting season highs on the parallel bar and vault to pull away from the No. 7 Gophers.
Junior Paul Ruggeri led the way, winning on vault (16.05), floor exercise (14.75), high bar (16.10) and in the all-around (87.200). Sophomore Tyler Mizoguchi was right behind, finishing second in all-around and winning on rings along with sophomore Anthony Sacramento.
Also winning individual events were junior Daniel Ribeiro on pommel horse and senior Brian Liscovitz on parallel bars.
