The Fighting Illini softball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday night against No. 11 Stanford in the Stanford Nike Invitational.
Stanford defeated the Illini 8-0 behind a stellar performance from starting pitcher Ashley Chinn. Chinn pitched five scoreless innings giving up only four hits on the day. The Illini, however, defeated Sacramento State earlier in the day 7-1. Illinois’ starting pitcher Pepper Gay pitched 4.2 innings giving up just five hits and one run.
