Adjust your schedules accordingly.

Illinois and Kansas have scheduled a home-and-home football series that will begin in 2023 in Lawrence, the school announced on Tuesday. Assuming the schools do not meet in a bowl game before then, it will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1968.

The first game in the series is scheduled for Sept. 9, 2023, at KU’s Memorial Stadium, while Kansas will make the return trip to Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill., on Sept. 7, 2024.

“This series with Kansas is another great addition that fits in with our scheduling philosophy,” Illinois athletic director Mike Thomas said. “We have set out to schedule games against some outstanding institutions and I feel like we’ve done that with home-and-home series finalized for North Carolina, South Florida, Virginia and now Kansas.”

In a series that dates back to 1892, Kansas is 2-3 all-time against the Illini. The Jayhawks defeated Illinois 26-4 on Nov. 1, 1892, the school’s second season of football. After three straight losses, Kansas won the most recent game against Illinois, beating the Illini 47-7 in Champaign on Sept. 21, 1968.
