UI Alum had only perfect NCAA tournament bracket

By Daily Illini Staff Report

Until Dayton University beat Syracuse 55-53 on Saturday, Brad Binder, University alumnus, had the only perfect NCAA tournament bracket after an upset-filled second round on Thursday and Friday.

23-year-old Binder from Buffalo Grove, Ill., submitted the bracket to Yahoo! Sports’ tourney pick’em, and tweeted that he only spent “about 5 minutes” doing the picks.

Despite eight upsets, Binder made all of the 32 correct picks.

Binder, however, did not enter his bracket in Warren Buffet’s billion dollar bracket challenge, where anyone with a perfect bracket will be awarded $1 billion. He tweeted that he “did it for the love of the bracket.”

Already, Binder’s bracket has drawn national attention on The Sporting News, ABC and Deadspin.

Binder has used his newfound stardom to help the University’s men’s basketball program, tweeting at Jalen Brunson, one of the top recruits in the state of Illinois in the class of 2015, telling him to come to Illinois.
