Illinois football has added yet another defensive back as a recruit. This time, it’s Prince Ford heading to Champaign for the Illini as they look to rebuild a dominant secondary after losing multiple players to the NFL during the offseason.

Ford, a six-foot-tall corner originally from North Carolina, played two seasons at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California before transferring to Illinois. Ford announced his decision earlier today via Twitter after visiting with the Illini over the weekend.

Ford was named to the All-Conference Team twice in his career before he chose the Illini today. The Illini have already added several players to the secondary for the upcoming season, so the move will only increase the level of competition the Illini defense will have in practices under new defensive coordinator Aaron Henry.

Illinois kicks off the 2023 season on Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. against Toledo for the home opener.
