After celebrating its 100th anniversary, Memorial Stadium is getting a facelift. The University recently announced that, over the next two years, the well-loved stadium will receive several improvements.
“The upcoming Memorial Stadium projects are a key step in our commitment to providing one of the best college football experiences in the nation,” said Director of Athletics Josh Whitman in a statement.
The first of these changes is wireless internet. Say goodbye to the pre-security panic when your tickets won’t download. The athletic department hopes the wireless internet will ensure smoother ticketing, concessions and retail transactions.
As of now, the wireless internet will be installed in the stadium’s concourses before the season opener on Aug. 29. Installation in the seating bowl, student section and Grange Grove is scheduled to be completed in time for the Homecoming game on Sep. 27.
Looking forward to the 2026 season, the University will also upgrade the stadium’s videoboards. Upgrades include enhancements to existing videoboards alongside the addition of a new board above the student section.
