The Big Ten Conference announced this afternoon that all organized team sports and activities will remain suspended through May 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspension will be re-evaluated again before this deadline.

An announcement on March 13 originally postponed all activities through April 6, with the new announcement extending this period for four additional weeks. All on-and off-campus recruitment is also suspended for “the foreseeable future.”

“The main priority of the Big Ten Conference is to ensure the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, fans and media as we continue to monitor all developing and relevant information on the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Adam Augustine, Big Ten Conference assistant commissioner for communications, in an email.
