Dems helping students

Less than 100 hours into the new congressional session, the Democrats in the House of Representatives are showing their support for college students by lowering the federal student loan interest rate by half. The Democrats have done what the Republicans have been both unable and unwilling to do; cut the student loan interest rate to 3.4 percent from 6.8 percent and make college more affordable for students and their families. This action will save college students thousands of dollars per year and help make higher education affordable to even more people. This interest rate cut shows how good government can improve the lives of students and how we should continue to be involved in the political process to make sure that issues that matter to us are at the forefront of the national debate.
