Wal-Mart creates good competition

By Jonathan Contrades

This comment is directed to Stephen Barany, the artist of the editorial cartoon published February 10, 2009. I will assume my analysis is correct in that the artist portrays Wal-Mart in a negative light (otherwise, this letter would be utterly foolish).

With its ironic smiley face, Wal-Mart is the conqueror of corporations who wish to oppose it. This letter is a defense of Wal-Mart. The competition brought about by the company can only be a good thing.

I would hate to see the day where I have to pay 30 dollars for a standard definition DVD just so other companies can stay in business. Capitalists of the world, unite!
