Weber recieves pay increase, amended contract

Head coach Bruce Weber received a pay increase at Wednesday’s Board of Trustees meeting. The board also approved an extension to his contract until 2015. He has been a coach at Illinois for six years.

The Board of Trustees approved an amended contract for men’s basketball coach, Bruce Weber.

Effective May 1, 2009 Weber’s base pay will be increased from $200,000 annually to $405,000 annually. The original contract has also been extended by three years, and will be effective through April 30, 2015.

In addition to the increase in Weber’s base pay, the amended contract also increases his compensation for radio, television and other promotional events from $600,000 to $645,000, effective May 1, 2009. The contract also stipulates that this compensation will increase from $645,000 to $895,000, effective January 15, 2010.

The amended contract brings Weber’s total compensation would increase from $1 million to $1.25 million, effective May 1, 2009, and will increase to $1.5 million, effective January 15, 2010.
