Regular contibutor and British comedian Stephen Fry considers discontinuing messages on Twitter

English author and comedian Stephen Fry made a series of messages on Saturday that suggested he may discontinue writing his regular messages on the social networking website Twitter.

Stephen – or “stephenfry” as his username says – is currently following over 54,000 users. He is being followed by over 926,000 people and has written over 4,600 messages, or “tweets”, on his user page. He is supposedly one of the most famous users on Twitter. It is thought that he discontinue leaving regular messages on the website after supposedly falling out with another user known as “brumplum,” aka Richard, from the city of Birmingham in England, as his user page says.

The sequence of tweets between the two users appeared to suggest that Stephen Fry would be leaving Twitter.

Richard: “I shall have to put more effort into fluid-extraction! *blushes at the thought of S.F. reading my wibbles*”

Stephen Fry: “whereas yours are so fascinating I can barely contain my fluids.”

Richard: “My life is complete, @stephenfry has @ replied me, rapidly followed by blocking me. My previous comment clearly hit him hard. Sorry.”

Stephen Fry: “You’ve convinced me. I’m obviously not good enough. I retire from Twitter henceforward. Bye everyone.”

Stephen Fry: “Think I may have to give up on Twitter. Too much aggression and unkindness around. Pity. Well, it’s been fun.”

Stephen Fry: “Well maybe I’ll see how I feel in a few days. Very low and depressed at the moment and any drop of meanness makes it so much worse. Sorry.”

Richard: “I am deliberately not reading my feed. Frankly I am amazed by this over-reaction. Yes, I know @stephenfry is bipolar, and like the rest…”

“…of the planet I admire him greatly, which I said this morning. AND I apologised to him. Twice. He’s blocked me so I can’t talk to him.”
