Quinn administration launched budget site

The Governor’s Office of Management and Budget (GOMB) launched a Web site allowing Illinois residents to give feedback on the state’s fiscal year 2011 budget.

According to the budget Web site, Governor Pat Quinn and his administration are, for the first time in Illinois’s history, providing the public with a convenient way to participate in the state’s budgeting process.

The Web site provides a video addressing the “four tools to solve the budget crisis”. A site visitor can choose to “suggest a solution” and view other comments made by the public.

David Vaught, Director of the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget, spoke today at 2:30 p.m. to the media in the Blue Room of the Illinois capitol about the new site. Quinn will make is budget address on March 10, 2010.

“The Quinn Administration is committed to openness and transparency, and this site gives everyone the opportunity to become engaged in the budget process,” Vaught said, according to the site.
