    Champaign police investigate attempted abduction

    The Champaign Police Department released a press release Oct. 28, announcing that two Champaign Police Officers were dispatched for an attempted abduction to the area of William Street near Maplewood Drive.

    According to the press release, police received information that two subjects identified by the victim as being African-American and approximately 20 to 30 years of age attempted to lure a 15-year-old female into a vehicle. Suspect #1 had short hair, a beard and a moustache wearing a sweater vest and black jeans. The vehicle is described as a light blue mini-van. The vehicle was last seen in the area of John/Maplewood. No injuries were reported by the victim.

    The Champaign Police Department is currently investigating this crime and requests that anybody who may have information regarding this attempted abduction, please call the Investigation Division at (217) 351-4545.
