Scholarship fund established to help students pay for textbooks

The 1867 Society established a new fund to help students with the rising cost of textbooks. The 1867 Society is a student-led philanthropic and fundraising organization working to help University students.

Students can donate to the textbook fund at the TIS Bookstore starting this Wednesday until Friday. The money collected by the organization will be given to the Financial Aid Office and they will start distributing it to selected students with demonstrated financial need.

The funds will most likely be awarded to students at the start of the Spring 2012 semester if the fundraising efforts go as planned, said Sharla Sola who works with the group.
