    The University accepts the participation of those organizations that have been determined to be qualified organizations by the State Comptroller under the Voluntary Payroll Deduction Act of 1983.

    Since 1929, contributions from employees, retirees and Foundation employees have helped to support eleven social service agencies and over 600 other non-profit organizations. Last year, employees contributed more than $1.3 million to the campaign.

    Pledges can be made online or in paper, to be submitted to employees’ respective Unit leaders. These changes will go into effect as of the first pay period in January 2012.

    The minimum gift for payroll deduction is $24 annually per umbrella agency. There is no maximum donation amount. Faculty can also give to an organization that is not listed above as long as the IRS identifies the organization as a 501(c)(3)nonprofit agency.

    University Retirees can make a one-time contribution by completing a pledge form and delivering it along with their personal check to their volunteer leader.

    Donors can also become givers at any of the designated levels listed below. These donors at these levels will be published in Inside Illinois, unless they let us know they do not wish their name included:

    * Dollar-a-Day: $365/year or approximately $30 per month

    * Pacesetter: $500/year or approximately $42 per month

    * Leader $1,000/year or approximately $83 per month

    * Founder $1,867/year or approximately $155 per month

    (This amount honors the founding year of the University of Illinois).
