    Champaign police make 2 arrests in connection with armed robbery

    Champaign police have made two arrests in connection with a reported armed robbery at Junior’s Burgers & Custard, 1511 W. Springfield Ave., at 11:44 a.m. Thursday.

    According to the report, two employees, an 18-year-old male and a 33-year-old male, were approached by an unknown male with a knife who came in through an unlocked back door. The employees gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect.

    The suspect then left the business and entered a vehicle with a male driver.

    The suspect was described as a white male, between 40 and 50 years old and weighing about 160 pounds. He was about 6 feet tall with a thin build and was described as “scruffy.”

    The vehicle was described as a red and silver four-door sedan.

    Officers searched the surrounding area and found a vehicle matching the description at an apartment building at the 400 block of South State Street.

    Inside one of the apartments police found two persons of interest, a 50-year-old male and a 40-yea-old male, who were detained for questioning. Police arrested both subjects in connection with the robbery.
