    Weston burglary suspect caught

    University Police have made an arrest in connection with several burglaries reported at Weston Hall reported in a Crime Alert Sunday evening. University student Steven Labana was arrested on charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, burglary to a motor vehicle, resisting/obstructing a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance around 1 a.m. Monday.

    According to the report, a witness saw Labana break into a vehicle parked at the 1100 block of South Goodwin Avenue in Urbana and Labana led police on a foot chase. After police made the arrest, they connected Labana to the burglaries at Weston.

    According to the alert, three burglaries occurred at Weston Hall on Sunday morning. Around 2:30 a.m., two roommates living on the third floor of Weston Hall had cash stolen from them while they were sleeping. One victim also had prescription medicine stolen.

    At about 4 a.m., a resident on the third floor woke up to find an offender walking into her dorm room. She sat up and the offender fled. She said she thought she heard him running down the stairs. In the early morning, another resident of Weston woke up and saw an offender in her room. The offender fled and the resident discovered she was missing cash.
