Muslim Student Association to host guest performance

The Muslim Students Association, or MSA, will hold a performance of “Hijabi Monologues” this evening at 8 p.m. in the Courtyard Café as part of Islam Awareness Week. The production aims to “promote unity and destroy misconceptions on campus,” according to an MSA press release.

Special guest Kamilah Picket will perform five of the production’s monologues that cover Muslim-American women’s daily lives, with an emphasis on college students.

This will be the fourth event as part of Islam Awareness Week. In light of the recent 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, MSA hopes the events will bring attention to prejudices against Muslims.

The event is free and open to the public, though parental discretion is advised due to mature content and strong language. A moderated discussion will follow.
