University police holds contest to promote social media

The University of Illinois Police Department is sponsoring two contests to get the word out about its social networking sites.

The purpose of the contests is to get student ideas and opinions about participating in events without the use of alcohol or other substances.

To enter the contests, students must like the police departments “Facebook page”:http://www.facebook.com/UIUCPublicSafety or follow UIPD on “Twitter”:http://www.twitter.com/uipd. They then must tweet or write a Facebook note describing substance-free activities and how to participate in them.

Only University students are eligible for the contests, which end on Feb. 26. Winners will be drawn on March 1.

The winner of the first contest will receive tickets to a concert at Assembly Hall. The second contest will provide two winners with a pair of tickets to see well-known traditional Irish music players.
