    European agricultural reform lecture to be held Wednesday

    Alan Matthews, professor of European agricultural policy at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, will be lecturing Wednesday about agricultural policy reform in the European Union. Matthews’ lecture will take place from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. in the Giertz Conference Room at the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University.

    Matthews, who is also president of the European Association of Agricultural Economists, will discuss the reform that has occurred over the past 20 years in the EU and the reform that will likely occur between now and 2020. The lecture will discuss the fiscal and environmental importance of the reforms that have been made and the impact that reforms currently being discussed will have on the future.

    The lecture is co-sponsored by the European Union Center. The Institute of Government and Public Affairs is located at 1007 W. Nevada Street in Urbana.
