The Illinois football Blue team – headlined by quarterback Reilly O’Toole, running back Josh Ferguson and cornerback Terry Hawthorne – won the annual Orange and Blue Spring Game 13-12 on Saturday.

Defense outshined offense from both sidelines throughout the controlled scrimmage, recording nine sacks on the afternoon. Michael Buchanan led the way for the Blue team with 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Scheelhaase completed 11-of-26 passes for 65 yards for the Orange team, while O’Toole went 19-for-31 with 159 yards and one touchdown on the Bblue team. Miles Osei saw time at quarterback with 115 yards on 8-15 passing. Osei also played receiver and running back, and returned kicks and punts as well.

Freshman running back Ferguson excelled as the featured back for the Blue team with 150 yards on 20 carries. Sophomore running back Donovonn Young carried the ball eight times for 11 yards on the Orange team in limited action as he returns from an off-season foot injury. The Blue team will receive a steak dinner for the victory.
