Fundraising effort Bike For the Fight will stop on campus Thursday as the organization bikes from Los Angeles to New York City.
Founded by Tom Peled, Bike For the Fight is a charity that supports the Israeli Cancer Research Fund through an international cycling movement. Bike For the Fight was created when Peled lost his father to an incurable form of cancer in 2011 and his desire to “turn bad circumstances into positive action,” according to the Bike For the Fight “website”:http://www.bikeforthefight.com/.
During their stop in Champaign, the Bike For Fight team and local supporters will participate in a ceremonial bike ride around the Quad, followed by a presentation by Peled. Those interested in participating in the bike ride can meet at The Cohen Center at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The presentation will occur at the same location at 6 p.m.
The event is cosponsored by Illini Hillel and RSOs Illini 4000, Krav Maga, Israeli Illini, and AISC.
