    Two robberies, theft reported early Friday

    University and Champaign police departments are investigating two robberies and a theft that occurred today, according to a Crime Alert from University Police.

    At around 1 a.m., a victim was approached by two males near 105 E. Daniel St. One of the males grabbed the victim’s purse and pulled it off her shoulder. The two males then fled northbound on Second St.

    One suspect is described as Hispanic, wearing a red shirt and khaki shorts. The second suspect is described as Hispanic, wearing a green shirt and khaki shorts.

    Another robbery was reported at around 2 a.m., near the intersection of Third and Daniel streets. Two males approached the victim and asked her if she needed someone to walk her home.

    The victim allowed the men to walk with her, and as they were walking through St. John’s Catholic Newman Center parking lot, 1005 S. Fifth St., one of the males pushed the victim to the ground. He then took the victim’s purse and he and the other suspect ran westbound. The suspects were last seen at Chalmers and Fourth streets.

    One suspect is described as Hispanic, around 22-years-old with short dark hair, muscular build and wearing a red tank top or sleeveless T-shirt. The second suspect is described as white or Hispanic, around 22-years-old and wearing a white and gray shirt and black shorts.

    Champaign police are also investigating a theft that may be related to the two robberies. The theft occurred around 2 a.m. on the sidewalk in front of 108 E. Daniel St. Two males approached the victim from behind and grabbed her wallet out of her hand, then fled northbound.

    One suspect is described as white, wearing a light colored shirt and khaki shorts. The second suspect is described as black, wearing a navy blue shirt and khaki shorts.
