Quick commentary for Oct. 7, 2013

Quick Commentary delivers bits of relevant and important issues on campus or elsewhere. We write it, rate it and stamp it. When something happens that we are not pleased with: DI Denied. When something happens that we like: Alma Approved.

    DI Denied

Miley Cyrus has bombarded nearly all media forums for the past month with her questionable music and performances, so it was no surprise when she forced herself into our lives once again with MTV’s release of “Miley: The Movement.” The hour-long program was ultimately Cyrus’s attempt to justify everything she has released lately. Sorry, Miley, you can defend yourself for the next 50 years and it still doesn’t change the fact that you degraded a foam finger and licked a sledgehammer.

    Alma Approved

On Saturday, students all over campus released their inner preteen at Canopy Club as the University welcomed Aaron Carter. Attendees shamelessly sang along to classics like “Aaron’s Party” and “I Want Candy.” Even if you weren’t an avid Carter fan in the early 2000s, there’s no denying that a little part of you died on the inside knowing you were only one degree of separation from the Backstreet Boys.
