February bar checks results in more than 60 citations

Illinois State Police, along with the Champaign Police Department, conducted two Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement covert details in February.

On Feb. 21, 35 citations were issued by the ISP and the Champaign Police. Of the 35 citations, 11 were issued at Joe’s Brewery, seven at It’s Brothers, six at Whitehorse Inn, four at KAM’S, three at Red Lion, two at The Clybourne’s and two at Murphy’s Pub.

On Feb. 28 a total of 30 citations were issued. Of the 30 citations, 12 were issued at Red Lion, six at Joe’s, five at KAM’S, four at Illini Inn, two at Cly’s and one at Firehaus.

The citations were issued for possession/purchase of alcohol by a minor, unlawful use of ID and presence of minor in liquor establishment.

The goal of the ACE program is to reduce and prevent underage drinking in Illinois.
