About Us

Since 1871, The Daily Illini has been a mainstay on the University of Illinois campus and has grown into one of the country’s largest student-run newspapers. Distributed free throughout Champaign-Urbana, The Daily Illini provides the campus community with its number one source for news, sports coverage and commentary and public opinion. Through its Diversions section, highlights of campus life and film and entertainment reviews are published three days a week. And, with its award-winning Web site, The Daily Illini covers campus 24/7.

Additionally, a number of topical special editions — including our New Student Edition, Ebert Film Festival Guide, and semi-annual career and housing guides — round out our coverage of the University community.

About Illini Media

Founded in 1911, Illini Media‘s mission is to provide an experiential learning environment to complement University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s academic areas; to prepare UIUC students for future careers in print and digital media, broadcast, marketing, public relations, sales, fundraising and business; and to inform, enlighten and entertain the UIUC student community.

Illini Media is the not-for-profit parent company of The Daily Illini, The Illio yearbook, WPGU 107.1 radio and buzz magazine, and various digital properties. We are sustained by the generous contributions of advertisers, UIUC student fees, Illio yearbook sales, our alumni and friends.
