Joe Spencer named to Wuerffel Trophy watch list

The Illini football big center is being recognized for his big heart. Senior center Joe Spencer was put on the Wuerffel Trophy watch list for the second straight year.

It is known as college football’s community service award and is given to a player who shows skill on the field and contributes to their community.

Spencer most recently organized the Lift for Life, which raised $21,000 for charity.He also serves as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the chapter president of Uplifting Athletes.
Spencer was also put on the Rimington Award watch list for the nation’s best center.
