Updated Mac Pro

With the newest refresh to Mac Pro, Apple has now completed its transition to Apple Silicon, meaning all of their Mac devices no longer rely on Intel processors. Every Mac Pro will ship with the M2 Ultra.

The older Mac Pro model uses a card called Afterburner, which is able to play three simultaneous streams of 8K Apple ProRes video. This is now built into the Mac Pro, however, with the equivalent performance of seven Afterburner cards.

The device features eight built-in Thunderbolt ports for quick and easy connectivity. It also has six open fourth-generation PCI expansion slots, allowing users to customize their Mac Pro with all the tools they need.

Apple further led into its promotion of Mac devices towards PC users, with Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus claiming there has never been a better time to switch to a Mac.

Mac Pro will start at $6,999. Preorders began Monday and shipping will begin next week.
