The University plans to install new bollards, or protective posts, at several areas on the Quad, said a press release on Wednesday.

The new posts will protect students, faculty and staff from unauthorized motor vehicle traffic on the Quad. This will also prevent unnecessary damage from happening to the paved and landscape areas. Also, maintenance and emergency vehicles will be able to access the Quad when absolutely needed.

Just as vehicles that are unauthorized will be prohibited from entering the Quad, bicyclists are restricted from riding on sidewalks when big groups of pedestrians are using them. Instead, the newly enforced rule will ask bicyclists to walk their bikes.
