David Finkel,Washington Post Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, will speak at 213 Gregory Hall on Thursday. Finkel’s lecture will take place at noon. There is no cost for attendance.
Finkel is a long-time reporter and editor at The Washington Post and the author of “The Good Soldiers,” the story of nine months he spent with a U.S. battalion on the front lines in Iraq during the surge.
The New York Times Book Review said,“Finkel has made art out of a defining moment in history.”
David Finkel won his Pulitzer for a series of stories on U.S. efforts to bring democracy to Yemen. He was a three-time Pulitzer finalist for explanatory reporting and feature writing before finally winning his Pulitzer for explanatory reporting in 2006.
The department of journalism is sponsoring the event. The Marajen Stevick Foundation of The News-Gazette is funding Finkel’s visit.
