Earlier today, actors Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards, which annually celebrates filmmaking as an art.
Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez” leads this year’s nominations with a total of 13 including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography. Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” and John M. Chu’s “Wicked” follow with 10 nominations each.
With its 13 nominations, “Emilia Pérez” also achieved a new record for the most nominations given to a non-English speaking film.
These nominations come after a delay following the recent fires in Los Angeles.
The award show will be held on Sunday, March 2 at 6 p.m. CST with the pre-show beginning at 5:30 p.m. CST live from the Dolby Theatre. The event will be hosted by former talk show host Conan O’Brien, which marks his first time hosting the event, replacing Jimmy Fallon.
