The second most nominations overall went to HBO’s “The Penguin,” with 24 nominations in the limited series category. The Batman spinoff earned nominations in Outstanding Limited Series, Colin Farrell for Lead Actor, Cristin Milioti for Lead Actress and several more.
Apple’s “The Studio” tied the record for most comedy nominations in a year with 23. This record was originally set by “The Bear” in 2024. The comedy series starring Seth Rogen received nominations in categories such as Outstanding Comedy Series, Rogen for Outstanding Lead Actor, Ike Barinholtz for Outstanding Supporting Actor and more.
Adolescence breakout
Netflix’s second most watched English series of all time, “Adolescence,” has lit up the Emmys with 13 nominations. Amongst these, at 15 years old, Owen Cooper became the youngest actor to be nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Limited Series category.
“Adolescence” will take on “Black Mirror,” “Dying for Sex,” “Monsters” and “The Penguin” for Outstanding Limited Series.
Snubs
While there are a lot of big names in the nominations, like Martin Short for “Only Murders in The Building,” Pedro Pascal for “The Last of Us” and Cate Blanchett for “Disclaimer,” there were a few actors, actresses and shows that missed out.
“Andor” made history with 14 nominations, the third most ever for a Star Wars show. And despite his beloved portrayal of Cassian Andor, Diego Luna missed out on an Outstanding Lead Actor nomination.
Despite the success that “The Penguin” put together for the nominations, Rheny Feliz couldn’t make it to the board for the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.
“Only Murders in The Building” earned nominations in both Outstanding Series and Outstanding Lead Actor categories. Yet, Selena Gomez didn’t get the nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress.
77th Emmys
The 77th Emmy Awards will take place on Sep. 14 and will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. “The Bear,” “Shōgun” and others won big last year, but this year’s breakout stars are still up for grabs.
