Things heated up on the third day of Lollapalooza with tangible excitement for the day’s acts. As people flitted from stage to stage, there was a consistent chatter of who they were most excited to see.
Twice and RÜFÜS DU SOL led Lollapalooza day 3 as headliners at Bud Light and T-Mobile stages, respectively. Leading up to these performances were the musical stylings of artists like Kickflip, Bôa, Noami Scott, MARINA, Chance the Rapper, Clairo and Doechii.
Bôa put on a melodic set at the Bud Light stage Saturday afternoon, lead singer Jasmine Rodgers’ evocative vocals ringing out from the stage. Rodgers sat down with The Daily Illini following the band’s performance to talk about the viral success of its 1998 song “Duvet” and how it feels to be reunited after 20 years.
Naomi Scott added a new twist to her old classic, “She’s So Gone” from Lemonade Mouth, delivering a performance that solidly claims her position as a vocal powerhouse. Much to her surprise, she filled her venue with festivalgoers eager to get a peek at the singer/actor.
MARINA brought bubblegum pop to the forefront of the T-Mobile stage at 4:55 p.m., singing a mix of classic hits and new tunes that got the audience jumping to the beat. Her stage confidence added an extra layer of authenticity to her performance as festivalgoers felt like they got to know Marina herself.

Clairo gave festivalgoers a much-needed reprieve with her lo-fi indie performance at Bud Light Saturday evening. She floated around the stage in a cool and casual manner, further adding to the relaxed atmosphere.
Doechii took over the T-Mobile stage with a powerhouse performance that demonstrated her artistry and storytelling. Playing hit songs like “Anxiety” and “DENIAL IS A RIVER,” Doechii brought out a massive crowd to T-Mobile with her incredible performance.
Two Friends is a DJ/Producer duo that puts its friendship at the forefront of the music. Before their closing set at Perry’s stage Saturday night, the duo talked with The Daily Illini about their beginnings and how it feels to put on a set on the iconic stage.
Twice closed out Saturday night on the Bud Light stage with a memorable performance that celebrated the vibrant culture of K-pop. Making history as the first K-pop girl group to perform at Lollapalooza, TWICE’s spirited set showcased their unstoppable force and unrelenting energy.
RÜFÜS DU SOL launched Lollapalooza into orbit with a high-energy, high-volume EDM performance. Along with the musical talents of the group, lasers and strobing video were used to give festivalgoers a truly immersive experience.
